If you don’t know who Rough Trade are then shame on you, for the un-initiated here is a very brieft catch up; Cool shop, punk, label, The Raincoats, Cabaret Voltaire, success, The Smiths, bankruptcy, re-birth at the turn of the Century, The Strokes, The Libertines, Arcade Fire, more success. In short, they know music, very well infact, and that’s what they are offering you with their unique ‘Album Club’.
If music is my religion, Rough Trade is my church.
Don Letts
Sign up for the club (digital £8/month, physical £12/month) and you are sent their album of the month and a fold out guide to 9 other hot releases, what’s more is you can sign up for up to 4 more of those albums (at a flat additional cost) or if your just crazy about hearing new music, as we are here at WHS, then you can throw them £120 a month in exchange for the whole lot. The choices are pretty brilliant as you would expect from the gurus of the alternative scene, including recent selections such as Burial, The Go! Team, Holy Fuck (more on them soon on WHS), Arcade Fire and TV on the Radio, to mention but a few.
