One of the more bizarre yet certainly most exciting new brands on the menswear scene at the moment is Cassette Playa, having styled videos for M.I.A and the Klaxons, Carri Mundane’s DIY cyber-punk clothing breathes the same life and vibrance into fashion as her buddy’s ‘day-glo sonic terrorism’ has been doing to music in the past few years.
If you have ever popped over to M.I.A’s MySpace page then you will be familiar with the kind of in-your-face brashness that Mundane is fond of, computer interference and flourescent monsters which at first look childish and garish, but with a closer look offer something confrontational, fresh and intriguing that the current fashion scene is missing…. kind of a 21st century Vivienne Westwood if you will!
I want fashion to be more colourful, more positive, more future
Carri Mundane
Check out Cassette Playa’s obscure website for some limited edition t-shirts which we think are set to become icons for a brand that you will no doubt be seeing more and more of, whether you like it or not…. but then we get the feeling that if you don’t like it, Carri and her striking brand don’t really give a shit! Punk!
