Fresh from creating Kanye West’s undeniably impractical eyewear that has been hard to miss of late, French eye-fashion guru Alain Mikli has taken inspiration from, well, himself and re-imagined a look that he defined in the 1980’s. As a young designer in the 80’s, Alain caused a stir in the industry by producing the first ever range of asymmetric shades, as this rather fantastic image shows those of us who are, ahem, too young to remember.
Since 1983 when extravagant goggle legend Elton John first wore his far-out designs, Mikli has been at the forefront of experimental eyewear design, and having suffered from plagiarism throughout his career, this new range allows him to take back what is rightfully his and show the world that he is the king of ‘out-there’ eye fashion.
