Well, firstly we’d like to say a big sorry for the lack of content this week, too much sun, tapas and cerveza has gone to our heads and the heat of Seville in June makes it pretty damn hard to go cool-hunting, we promise to get back on track now so where better to start than the fabulous hotel we’ve been residing in until recently, the Las Casas del Rey de Baeza, a member of the Design Hotels group, deep in the heart of the winding, narrow streets of Seville’s historic centre.

Las Casas del Rey de Baeza

The converted 18th Century residential courtyard provides a typically Sevillian setting which is both sophisticated and relaxing yet fused with contemporary finishings and oozes a style and elegance which positively forces you into relaxation (as you can see from the lack of posts).

If you haven’t had the good fortune to visit Seville then you won’t be able to comprehend the heat, it’s oppressive and that makes the rooftop terrace of Las Casas del Rey de Baeza essential, the quiet pool area with loungers, sofas (in the shade) and a bar is a tranquil bit of heaven in this stunning city.

The winding streets that lead from the hotel to the Cathedral, the beautiful Barrio Santa Cruz and elsewhere are filled with authentic Spanish Tapas bars and the food in Seville is first class, if you are heading in this direction in the near future, obviously we cannot recommend the hotel enough, but be sure to check out the award winning tapas at Bar Europa, the unusual selection at Meson de la Infanta (Calle Dos de Mayo) and the traditional setting of Casa Placido deep in the heart of the Barrio Santa Cruz.
