Quirky, homely and achingly cool, La Minervetta is one of the most original and inviting hotels we have ever had the pleasure of staying in. Perched high on a clifftop overlooking the traditional fishing bay of Marina Grande in Sorrento and the imposing bay of Naples, La Minervetta is more like staying at a celebs house than it is a hotel. A large lounge area crammed with an eye-popping array of design, architecture and fashion books along with a beautiful kitchen (serving a mouth watering selection of breads, cheeses, pastries, cakes and coffees every morning) and a private terrace with truly staggering views mean that you will find it almost impossible to tear yourself away from this unique residence.

Due to the nature of this chic 1950’s building, all rooms take in that wonderful view and are well equipped, each with individual design pieces and interesting objects, the junior suite (pictured above) is the wise choice, spacious, comfortable, filled with even more European design magazines, photography books and unusual artifacts. Most importantly, yet possibly not for those who suffer from vertigo, there are 2 enormous floor to ceiling glass doors and mini balconies from which to further enjoy that breathtaking view, all the way over the fishing village to the bay of Naples and what can be a more humbling experience than waking up to a view of the mighty Mt. Vesuvius?

The theme of stylised clutter continues through the communal spaces, corridors and even out onto the sun terrace and Jacuzzi pool, with designer books, modern art pieces, vintage fishing artifacts and brightly coloured ceramic objects all vying for your attention, offering a distinctly eclectic vibe that you feel could just not be recreated anywhere else but here.
If you are planning, or even contemplating, a trip to this area of Italy then we can’t recommend this treat of a hotel enough, check out their website, make a booking, and let us know how it went…….
