The quintisentially British luxury of the Connaught hotel has been given a classic update in the form of it’s sensational new bar, designed by internationally renowned designer, David Collins. Collins, famous for his work at The Blue Bar and The Landau, has gracefully updated what was once the American Bar as part of the Connaught’s recent £70 million refurbishment.

Retaining the bar’s discretly elegant look was critical and David Collins Studio have looked to traditional English influences such as Saville Tow tailoring, in the broguing detail of the furniture, and classic colours such as British Racing Green, Granite Grey and Tobacco Browns. Low level lighting and a textured treatment of the existing English oak panelling allow this historic bar to ooze with it’s own class and elegance.

In a move that reflects the increasingly common ‘chef’s table’, the Connaught are introducing the world’s first “Head mixologist table” for up to 6 guests. Guests will be treated to an array of drinks produced on a cocktail station set up next to the table, the grand finale is an ad hoc signature drink by the Connaught Bar Head Mixologist that is shaken on request with your chosen flavour. An introduction is given by the Barman beforehand and guests are served a gourmet selection of bar snacks.
With this mixture of new ideas, classical decor and undeniable history, The Bar at The Connaught, in the experienced hands of award winning bar manager Santino Cicciari looks set to become a huge player on the London bar scene. Exquisite.
