Since hip-hop first chose the sports shoe as it’s footwear of choice, the humble sneaker has been a mainstay of the counterculture, and in recent years, the lines between design, art and streetwear have been increasingly blurred. Art & Sole is an excellent new book from London based graphic design agency Intercity which explores the relationship between design, art and sneakers, and showcases the best new collaborations and limited edition ranges.

Featuring work by artists and designers such as Futura 2000, Crooked Tongues, Kidrobot, Dalek and James Jarvis, Art & Sole is an inspirational collection of artworks and rarities which is a must for any sneaker lover. Split into two halves, the first displaying collaborative and limited-edition sneakers produced by a wide range of artists and designers and the second documenting the bourgeoning sneaker art scene which sees artists producing work as varied as sculptures made from dissected shoes, to oil paintings on canvas, and of course, the customisation of the shoes themselves.
Art & Sole by Intercity is published by Laurence King
