We hope you all had yourselves a good Halloween celebration, for those of you who just can’t let go of that love for the dark side, you’ll probably be excited to hear the news, if you haven’t already, that goth is back, and in a big way. From the catwalk to the charts (goth pioneers The Cure are back don’t you know), black is back and there is nowhere more immersed in the gothic scene than the cool kids down in Shoreditch. Fronting up the scene, and headlining tomorrow nights Halloween bash at the Hoxton Bar and Grill, are S.C.U.M, whose brand of dark post-punk is reminscent of Suicide or The Birthday Party, other scene lumanaries on tomorrow nights bill are Kasms, featuring ex-Test Icicle (alongside Dev ‘Lightspeed Champion’ Hynes) Rory Brattwell, their shrieking vocalist Rachel Mary Callaghan conjures up memories of Riot Grrrl at it’s most brattish. Our pick of the bunch and also supporting S.C.U.M tomorrow night in Shoreditch are the rather beautifully named An Experiment On A Bird In The Air Pump (pictured), check out their primal ’60’s girl band splattered in zombie blood’ version of Sonic Youth’s 100 Percent, haunting, menacing and essential!
