Our friend, Jan Willem (aka Zeptonn) has, along with Dutch design agency Booreiland, just put out another brilliant publication in the form of Vormator, The Elements of Design, a luxurious 192 page hardcover book which brings together the best pieces of art and design produced as part of a unique design contest which started over two years ago. The name of the game was to produce a unique piece of work based solely around eight shapes (the Elements) which were provided, the goal was to show how limitations can be an important factor in creativity, and judging by some of the compelling work which is showcased in this beautiful tome, their goal was successfully achieved.

Some eighty artists were chosen, out of the five-hundred plus entrants from around the world, to showcase their submissions and to talk about how they realised their concept from the provided elements. As well as the submission itself and the story behind it, the artists individual solutions are illustrated with work in progress images which are an inspiration insight into the workings of these talented designers.
