Electronic drumkits have certainly come along since we were kids, that’s for sure, and they don’t come much more impressive than the Roland TD-9KX, a touring kit with some 50 kit sounds built into it’s TD9 sound module. Now an electronic drumkit might not look as cool as a real life old and worn wooden kit, and lets face it, looking good is 90% of the success ratio for good music (you could be in serious danger of looking more Spandau Ballet than Stooges with this bit of kit), but with the ability to instantly switch through all those sounds, the portability, practicability and Roland’s most impressively realistic triggering technology to date, this is a bit of kit that is very, very high on our ‘gadget needs’ list.
