Fully assembled in Brooklyn, transported over the Williamsburg Bridge and hoisted into the Upper West Side sixth floor apartment of two art collectors, the ‘Genetic Stair’ by Brooklyn architects Caliper Studio is certainly one of a kind. Advanced digital fabrication techniques combined with traditional metalworking expertise, the staircase is the main feature of Caliper Studio’s renovation of this three thousand square foot duplex apartment. Free from all walls and supported only at the top and bottom, this is a unique design feature that oozes class and distinction thanks to it’s faultless design and restrained palette of polished stainless steel, white translucent Corian and low-iron glass.
