Part art-project, part interiors product design, Dutch designer Bauke Knottnerus‘ Phat Knits are gigantic foam filled threads which are woven into otherworldly rugs and sofas that resemble offcuts from grandma jumpers and make you feel like a primordial dwarf living in the jolly green giant’s psychedelic mansion. Managing to be both bizarre yet maintaining a level of cutting edge fashion about his work, Knottnerus dabbles in the black art of Willy Wonka without ever coming across naff or tacky, if you’ve got the house to carry this sort of adventurous interior design off then Phat Knits would certainly prove a talking point for years to come.
