Rétrofuturs is the particularly descriptive pseudonym of the French former science student turned designer, Stéphane Massa-Bidal, you see ‘retro’ meets ‘future’ is the running theme through his work, and rather nice it is too. Having no formal training in graphic design, his work is produced with a warming natural naivety that delivers a strikingly realistic ‘retroness’ with each of his artworks looking like they’ve just been recovered from your Gran’s attic, layers of dust and all…. This series of images that sees our daily web tools reinvented as 1960s book covers offers an insight into how our social networks may look if they were designed 40 or 50 years ago, and in the case MySpace, this is a welcome interpretation thanks to it’s notable simplicity that is duly missed over at Mr Murdoch’s design monstrosity. Head over to Stéphane’s own website where he confusingly goes under a further pseudonym, ‘Hulk4598′, to find out how to purchase limited run prints…..
