Don’t get us wrong, we couldn’t function without a seriously strong coffee on a regular basis, but as the in-the-know continue their backlash against the big-brand coffee shops, there is an altogether more artisan and ridiculously British revival on the cards, the humble tea rooms. There are few better examples of this quaint and quirky phenomenon than South London’s ‘Le Chandelier‘, a beautifully decorated space that we stumbled across whilst reading Lynne Robinson’s rather lovely ‘Tea For Joy‘ blog, all charming, artisan and remarkably British in itself. Freshly baked pastries for breakfast, an eclectic selection of wines, lunchtime specials and of course that huge selection of specialist teas from farms in China, India, Taiwan and Japan are all served in these wonderfully gentile surroundings, underneath a spectacular array of vintage French and Italian chandelier’s that are also available to purchase…..
