You would think that the textiles industry could be fairly dull, or at least confined to busy warehouses and markets… and in general, it may well be, we’ll own up to not knowing too much about said industry. What we do know however is that, founded in 1968, Danish textile giants, Kvadrat are decidedly unique in their approach, choosing to innovate, collaborate and “push the aesthetic, technological and artistic boundaries of textiles”. Having worked closely with some of the greatest designers to have lived and seen their fabrics become integral parts of some of the planet’s most famous buildings… Bilbao’s Guggenheim, London’s iconic Swiss Re Building and Berlin’s imposing Reichstag to name but a few.

Having worked closely with the company for the last 5 years, iconic ex-Factory Records designer, Peter Saville, has now moved on from his work on evolving their global brand to realising an entirely more tangible statement for the Danes and collaborated with the rather talented architect, David Adjaye, on their splendid new London headquarters. Much more art installation and meeting space than product showroom, their North London HQ is a wonderful two-storey concrete space of which the focal point, and unquestionable highlight, is the glass and concrete staircase in Saville’s instantly recognisable and truly iconic colourways….
