Based in Madrid, but calling Nigrán, a seaside village in the North West of Spain, her home, it is clear to see the calming influence that the seaside has on Carla Fernández Andrade, a talented young photographer who works in TV by day, moonlighting with her passion, for simple, storytelling photography. Clearly influenced by the likes of Ryan McGinley and Amy Stein whose images affirm the old adage that ‘pictures are worth a thousand words’, Carla’s amateur works are inspiring given her experience…. just two years since she began toying with her father’s Polaroid, her images truly deliver intrigue and introspection. Citing old family photographs as her key influence, it explains the beautiful bleached colours and tones of her work and yields a vulnerable, warm and evocative style that could well put an end to her career in television…..
