Local Islington girl, Lizzie Evans, is one of those types that are so often referred to as, ‘annoyingly talented’, it’s a turn of phrase that’s terribly easy to use in these circumstances, especially given the name of her shop…. the ‘annoying’ fact is, however, that interior and graphic designer Lizzie has every right to be…. ‘Smug‘, her Camden Passage boutique is a wonderfully retro hotpot of inspiration that just oozes class. Kitchenware, glassware, clothing, ceramics and handmade toys are just some of the terribly cool and retro bits and bobs on display alongside retro furniture, artworks, accessories and textiles… as fabulously curated as it is designed, Lizzie’s little emporium of cool would make any of us feel infinitely smug!

i think moving the ’s’ from the front to the rear of the shop name would be more appropriate for the customers would would possibly frequent this kind of place and frivolously spend their money to board the kitschyretro bandwagon of irony that is current steaming ahead into the next decade. well i suppose it is in islington after all.

I love what SMUG’s doing and the name brilliant. It’s a lifestyle shop with a sense of humour and real character. It’s a real breath of fresh air compared to so many generic and pretentious design shops and it mixes quirky affordable gifts with high end design.
A great addition to Camden passage.

but this is generic and pretentious, doesn’t anyone else see this? i don’t get how flogging a bit of old furniture at scandalous prices and displaying some cushions and cramming the words ‘cool’ and ‘retro’ as many times as possible into the description makes this a breath of fresh air. come on now kids…
