Soaring into the Bangkok skyline, WOHA Design‘s latest high rise residential development, The Met, is an inspirational, majestic wonder. Somewhat of an urban tropical oasis, The Met has echoes of the mid-20th century ideals of Brutalist ‘streets in the sky’ housings – the open pass ways reminiscent of Ernő Goldfinger’s iconic Trellick Tower in West London – with more than a healthy dose of 21st century luxury, courtesy of sky-parks, swimming pools and lotus ponds. The 66-storey tower, situated in the heart of downtown Bangkok, fended off competition from 12 other buildings to emerge victorious in the Housing Category at the World Architecture Festival recently, and should this be a blueprint for high rise housing of the future… the world could well be a more beautiful place to inhabit…..
