Made In Camden at the Roundhouse

It may have been in snow and subzero temperatures that we visited the Roundhouse’s new bar and dining room recently, but there was certainly nothing cold about the charming little venue itself. Decked out with lovely, utilitarian ‘canteen’ style furniture and echoing the industrial Grade II listed performing arts space it’s located within, Made In Camden is an endearing little dining room with a thoroughly agreeable menu. With designer Michael Sodeau and head chef Josh Katz having grown up in the area, locality is very key to the restaurant’s ethos, and it really feels like a local diner – especially with the full range of Camden Town Brewery’s brilliant beers on tap. The food is simple, honest and splendid. We had a steak burger and seared onglet sandwich, both cooked spot on to our requests, and both ensuring their wasn’t much lunch time small talk. As much a local destination in itself as a perfect spot to unwind after a Roundhouse show, Made In Camden is as perfect an example of a venue’s in-house dining room as we’ve seen in some time, a real pleasure…
