Per and Bastian, Swedish and German respectively, are humans, and have been since 1982, so when they decided to work together during their studies at HDK, the school for design and crafts in Gothenburg, Humans Since 1982 is what they called themselves. Equally fact of the matter is the name for their latest work, Hair Clip On Hair, a handmade and signed hair clip – limited to only 50 – that has a decidedly sinister appearance when in use. Either offering the appearance from behind of someone wearing a niqāb, a ghostly figure or just somebody with “eyes in the back of their head”, the hair clip playfully distorts conceptions in such a devilishly simple manner, Per and Bastian’s thought-provoking artwork is clever, witty and alarmingly unique…
