As a number of international hotel chains follow in the footsteps of Starwood’s W Hotels lifestyle brand, Spanish chain NH Hoteles have, with the 2nd outing of their new nhow brand, pushed the envelope a little further. Debuting a unique “music and lifestyle” hotel, nhow Berlin not only features astounding architecture from Sergei Tchoban and typically outlandish interiors from the internationally renowned Karim Rashid, but also features the “nhow Music Sound Floor”, ran by one of the chaps behind Berlin’s Hansa Studios, where the likes of David Bowie, U2 and REM have recorded. It’s not just travelling musicians who will see the benefits of nhow Berlin’s dedication to music though, situated in the heart of the city’s music industry each room has iPod connections, there will be gigs on the Summer Terrace – directly on the river Spree – and if, like so many before have done, you find Berlin insatiably inspiring, just call room service and they’ll bring a guitar for you write your own song on. It says something about the unique musical proposition offered by nhow Berlin that we haven’t waxed lyrical over Rashid’s characteristically surreal dream-world, but then pictures speak a thousand words, so here you go…
