Antwerp’s Museum of Fashion (MoMu), Mercedes-Benz, Belgian art director Frederik Heyman and 4 stylistically outspoken fashion designers – Bernhard Willhelm, Peter Pilotto, Henrik Vibskov and Mikio Sakabe – have collaborated on this rather brilliant installation, showing this week as part of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin. Choosing 4 ‘young classics’ – dating from the 1960s to 1980s – photographer and artist Heyman has, along with personal works from each of the designers, created fabulously surreal settings which interpret the unique personalities of each car. We can’t even begin to imagine what must be going through Heyman’s mind as he devises these wickedly twisted sculptures, what we can say however, is that Recollection Quartett is one of the most mind-warpingly brilliant corporate collaborations we’ve seen in some time…
