Showcasing the very best, and most innovative international design in architecture, fashion, furniture, graphics, interactive, product and transport, the Brit Insurance Design Awards have garnered rather a reputation as being ‘the’ international design accolade, with previous winners including Shepard Fairey for his iconic Barack Obama “Progress” poster and Min Kyu Choi’s fabulous folding plug. This year’s exhibition, at London’s brilliant Design Museum, is somewhat of a design marvel in itself. Designed by the celebrated David Kohn Architects – whom we last featured back in November – with canvas banners and bunting, courtesy of the brilliant Multistorey, the exhibition invites exploration of the spectacular objects on display. We’re loving the tent pole style carbon fibre rods with brass connectors and, by partitioning the content into sections that accentuate each design’s cultural and physical relationships, the exhibition design lets visitors explore the works at their own pace, allowing individuals to make real, engaging relationships with the objects on display…
