The Augustine

Simple yet majestic converted monastery set in city's heart...

Located in the picturesque heart of Prague, The Augustine is converted from a 13th-century monastery to make up a 101-room Rocco Forte hotel. The décor and interior, by English-based design company RDD, reflects the history of its ecclesiastical inheritance with lots of reds, greens and purples, dark wooden doorways and vaulted ceilings. No two rooms are the same and one long corridor still bears witness the old multiple monks’ cells.

The rooms, mostly overlooking quiet leafy courtyards, are simple yet luxurious with splendid lamps and old books on desks and bedside tables. The hotel’s award winning Tom’s Bar, also by RDD and named after St Thomas, the patron saint of the Augustinian monastery, is a unique lounge bar set in a majestic double-height space that used to be the monastery’s refectory with beautiful 18th century vaulted fresco ceilings. The hotel’s spa also features the signature St Thomas treatment, which uses beer hops to exfoliate, then beer itself to nourish the skin before your massage…
