tech-savvy lighting design pushes new boundaries for retail space...

Snog, the frozen yogurt chain, has recently opened up their 6th store designed by famed architecture/lighting firm Cinimod Studio – and as always, design and technology boundaries have been pushed to deliver a unique retail environment. For the Chelsea store the design team were challenged with a long, narrow space and shop front, so to create an eye-catching high street presence, integrated furniture and lighting designs were taken to a new level. A highly visible ‘Ribbon Ceiling’ of undulating light was installed which varies in depth and pitch across the store plan. The lighting control system responds in real-time to the store’s sound system, creating dynamic colour movements across the room that pulse and change to reflect the stores music. The lighting ‘ribbons’ are made from 100% LED solutions and provides unparalleled quality of brightness resulting in a remarkably fresh, healthy and natural feeling. The customer seating designed for the limited space needed to be long and slender. A single organic bench was created from beautifully carved composite materials and stands at over 5 metres long to achieve the smooth and seamless curvature that provides the store’s distinct form…
