The delicate balance of old and new is oft-attempted, yet rarely well executed, so it’s understandably a privilege to witness the harmony of this balance beautifully accomplished; as it is here at this delightful Belgian café. Designer Lieven Musschoot fuses reclaimed wooden furnishings with contemporary touches – such as Tom Dixon‘s elegantly sculptured Pipe Lights – with a deft touch. Seamlessly marrying vintage and modern pieces to create something fresh and new, Musschoot’s masterstroke is a 12 metre long floor to ceiling feature wall, constructed from small pieces of fabulously hued marble and stone, whilst the upstairs private dining room is where the perfectly judged vintage touches really shine.
