Swire Hotels’ new blog, You’d Be Much Better Here, have given us an introduction to some of the artworks that were commissioned for their Hong Kong property, EAST. Designed by William Lim of CL3 Architects Ltd, the hotel is a hotbed of intriguing, and often humorous, original artworks; commissioned by the group’s art consultant, Alison Pickett. The video below sees Pickett discuss the works with artists Jayne Dyer and Gerald Bookle, and architect William Lim – exploring the virtues of injecting life and vigour into a predominantly business-orientated hotel through contemporary art. Surely it’s worth checking in for the privilege of bedding down with one of Chinese artist Sui Jianguo’s utterly splendid acid-coloured dinosaurs alone?
