Stuff Crush #2

Fashion, art, interiors or tech; Stuff Crush is our weekly address of objects we lust...

A lo-fi vintage-esque iPhone amp, a rocking horse turned fetish design object, secret garden shoes and childhood dreams. It’s our slightly perverse outlook on the stuff we crush…

Peter Jakubik; Pony Girl Rocker

Mount

Peter Jakubik; Pony Girl Rocker

Made from plywood with a wax finish, this lady shaped, strictly-adult rocking chair is intended to remind you of the toy you consigned to the attic many a year ago – now turned into a fetish design object. We’re not entirely sure whether it’s best suited to a tacky UK seaside town, or gracing the pages of a glossy design magazine. Either way, it provokes a response; and for that – we love it.

Pony Girl Rocker along with Peter’s other designs, can be purchased online. Price enquiries to be directed to Peter at peterjakubik.sales@gmail.com

The Balloon Lamp by Estiluz

Illuminate

The Balloon Lamp by CrousCalogero

Another creation that stirs up memories of childhood is Spanish studio CrousCalogero’s Balloon Lamp. But, unlike the balloons of your yesteryear, this won’t fly away, glide off into the distance, and land in some unicorn-inhabited, far-flung desert island… OK, that’s maybe letting the childhood memories run a little amok. Fantasy or no fantasy, CrousCalogero’s pensive pendant will have you drifting off to dreamland every time you catch sight of it.

You can find out more information on The Balloon Lamp, including prices at estiluz.com

Wetpaint

Look

Wetpaint

Featuring delightful colour combinations and a flawless style of lettering, we were immediately drawn to the work of Helen Lang. Embellishing an array of products, from cards, mugs and wash-bags with her illustrations, it’s the Alphabet Prints that we have a major stuff crush on at the moment – and think it would look just perfect hanging on the wall of a little whippersnapper’s bedroom.

You can check out products and designs, and make purchase enquiries for Helen’s work at wetpaint.org.uk

Victrola for iPhone

Hear

Victrola for iPhone

This quaint gramophone not only looks good, but amplifies the music played from your iPhone with a delightful lo-fi edge. Featuring a phone dock and attachable horn – which can be adjusted upwards and downwards to redirect the sound – this vintage-tinged design, from Schreer’s Tom Arden, has us hankering for some crackly Glenn Miller big-band sounds. Although it comes in a choice of a couple of different colours, we suggest buying it in white and customising it yourself.

Victrola for iPhone is designed by Schreer but available online from Shapeways. Prices start at €63.38

Milly J Shoes; The Secret Garden

Milly J Shoes; The Secret Garden

Milly J claims there’s no design that she can’t conjure up or master and, after browsing through her portfolio, we’d have to admit – she sure has some extraordinary ideas. Reminding us of Kobi Levi‘s wild shoe-art, Milly aims to bring shoes to life by giving each one a unique individuality and personality. Her sculptures would not look out of place either in the home, a window display or as a centrepiece at an event. Whilst her Art to Wear range make for a quirky, one of a kind, tailored piece of footwear.

You can purchase The Secret Garden Art to Wear Shoes for £260 and browse the rest of her range at Milly J’s website.
