Hatched

second helping of cracking restaurant...

You can’t make an omelette without breaking a few eggs, so they say. Following the success of the first Hatched restaurant in Singapore, designers outofstock were called in again to weave some more of their magic at a new sister venue on Holland Avenue, but this time they took the shell of their egg concept and gave it a sharp tap with a teaspoon.

The first eatery uses a smooth and round theme throughout the barn-house interior, such as installing panels over the windows with ovoid holes in, but here that smoothness is all cracking up, with jagged edges and angular shapes the order of the day. At this all-day breakfast restaurant, outofstock have based their design on a nest, using a steel frame covered with braided yellow rope which criss-cross the outer windows, holding the glass in place. Note too the cracked shell light coverings hatching on the walls.

And look, I managed to get through the whole article without one eggs-ellent pun! Almost.
