The following interesting pieces of reinvented furniture are credited to architects Marcio Kogan and his Studio MK27, Manuela Verga and Paolo Boatti, and were displayed at Gallery Fumi for London Design Week (although remains visitable until 30th November).
However, the initial work was by construction workers on the sites of Kogan’s building works, which the Brazilian then tinkered with to produce what you see here. The pieces are part of a 4-year overall project called Made in Italy showcasing both premium Italian products such as Murano glass and travatine marble with this “accidental design” concept. The other two collaborators, Verga and Boatti, are two Italian architects who have had a hand in shaping the items.
In case you’re wondering, innesto is the Italian word for graft or splice, and refers to the intervention technique of adding to or reshaping the original pieces and prolonging their lifespans. You learn something new every day…
