Medicom Toy; Andy Warhol Vinyl Collectible Doll

Anticipation for Medicom Toy’s Andy Warhol VCD, has been building since late summer – when first images were released. Collectors and Warhol fans won’t have to wait much longer; available from this Friday, two different versions – Normal and Silkscreen – stand at 23cm tall. The first vinyl figure is a cartoon version of the man with interchangable hair and a Velvet Underground banana – whilst the second, is a figurine of the artist’s famous silkscreened self-portraits.

Häagen-Dazs; Ice Moon Cake

It’s christmas cake but not as you know it… Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien of London-based design office Doshi Levien, have created a cake made entirely of ice cream for Häagen-Dazs. Indulgent and stylish, it’s this year’s alternative to the traditional Christmas dessert. Feeding 6 to 8 hungry bellies, it consists of a pistachio biscuit base, layers of macadamia nut ice cream and meringue, and a coating of raspberry sorbet. Now for the bad news – only fifty Ice Moon cakes are available in the UK (they are also available to guests at the Royal Albert Hall) – and up for grabs from tomorrow, you better get in quick if you want one.

Tom Allen for Lucirmás; Dama Table Lamp

Lucirmás are a Spanish eco-design company taking great efforts to reduce environmental impact, and Dama table lamp – designed by Tom Allen – ticks all the sustainable boxes. Made from 5 litre glass vessels – which in Italy are often used to store wine and oils – the charming lamps give off a warm glow from the low energy Plumen 001 lightbulb which contrasts beautifully against the glass lampshade (with handle for removing), and the beech timber base. Handmade in Barcelona, each lamp is numbered.

Mestizo Disenio; Socorro Table

This compact side table is great for setting down by your sofa and placing a well earned cuppa or (preferably) glass of wine upon. Easy to move around and versatile, it could also be used as a bedside table. The steel structure and solid wood legs make for a sturdy object which comes in a variety of colours – this practical piece of furniture from Mestizo Design is a little gem from their collection.

ReBaroque; Framed Speakers

They’ve been gracing all manner of walls for a few years, but we just love these music-cum-art speakers from design company: Re-Baroque. Ranging from the 11″x14″ Infant, to the 24″x36″ Daddy, Baroque frames house both discarded and new speakers (to enhance the sound quality) and are capable of wiring up to your sound-system, computer, and smart devices – they redefine how you think about music in the home. Classic looking, with a modern twist…

Moran Barmaper; Puff stool

Metal furniture, that can be inflated(!?) by a bicycle pump, forms the new collection from designer Moran Barmaper. Comprising three pieces – Puff stool, Danny bench and Ya Yu table – they all stimulate user experience, as through the inflation of each object, you become part of the creation. Our favourite, the Puff stool, arrives flat pack, is strong and sturdy due to the wooden legs (which oh-so compliment the metal seating), and makes a great statement piece.

Maja Flink; Douchala

The Bad Intern Print Project strive to make owning art affordable, support up-and-coming photographers, and allow established photographers to connect to a wider audience. Photography print editions at high quality means that we love much of the stuff they sell, however – Douchala by Maja Flink (which explores the serenity in a small corner of the much-contested Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan, capturing thick afternoon fog) especially stood out to us. A limited edition of 50.

Duo Games; Duo™ Pinball

Nostalgia set in, as I remembered the hours of fun I used to have perfecting my pinball wizardry on a flimsy old home version of the iconic arcade staple. Now, thanks to Duo Games and their Duo™ Pinball – complete with flipper buttons, and a spring-loaded plunge – you can download the Pinball HD App, wirelessly connect your iPad to the Duo™ Pinball controller, launch the app and play away; recreating the same tactile, immersive experience you’ll remember from real arcade pinball machines.
