Pizza Brain

A little slice of heaven...

I wish I could type out the sound Homer Simpson makes when thinking about something he really wants to eat, because that’s the sound I was making looking around Pizza Brain in Philadelphia. I’ll give it a go anyway. Gaaaaarrrrllllllllgggghh. Add your own drool.

Officially labelled a museum of pizza culture, but more like a shrine, Pizza Brain is full-on obsessed with the flat food favourite. It’s literally everywhere – from vintage posters to ’80s pop-culture toys, pizza-themed record sleeves to books like the, erm, classic: Killer Pizza. In fact the museum (as certified by Guinness Records) has the largest collection of pizza memorabilia in the world; so, you won’t be starved of something to keep your mind occupied while you’re munching. Did we mention they serve pizza here as well?

Starting life as a pizza-based art show called Give Pizza Chance (mastermind Brian Dwyer is not averse to a good pizza pun), the premise morphed from yearly pizza exhibition concept to fully-baked bricks and mortar establishment. I love pizza so much if I lived in Philly I might have to move in here and sleep in the toilets.
