Easy Tiger

Bakery-bar earns its stripes...

Bar camouflaged as a bakery, or the other way around? Anyway, this slinky establishment offers both bread and wine, the upstairs area being for the buns. The décor, by designer-to-the-stars Veronica Koltuniak, is intriguingly at odds with the produce on sale; gunmetal grey brick and metallic panelling dominates, save for the softening pink counter cladding. Harsh but stylish corroded sheeting threatens the kneecaps under the barfly barstools for those breaking bread in house, and the barmcakes and baguettes are racked up on wood against the grey brick; the contrast in colours serves to create an enticing look.

Load up on stomach-lining carbs before you pad downstairs to the beer garden/deck/table tennis area below. No need for Ray Mears’ tracking skills to follow this tiger, the old-timey pier-style bulb sign does all the pathfinding for you. We especially like the look of the draught beer blackboard, plenty of scope for a down-the-list drink-a-thon for the thirsty among you, thanks to the 30 craft beers available.*

Easy Tiger? I can hear the growl of a fierce night out from here.
