We Heart Travel Inspiration

Travel inspiration is something close to our hearts – the point where design and culture intersects with lifestyle, living and doing has always provided the content that most excites us; bars and restaurants that push design boundaries, hotels that struggle to define where art collections end and the hospitality experience begins...

Our trusty regulars will by now have noticed our new logo – we’ve been easing it in gently, and it now adorns our newsletter, social media outlets, store, and has been making its way onto the site in various guises too. So, why not on the site itself? We hear you cry. Well, we’re not too far away from unleashing a newly updated version of We Heart upon you all – with a whole host of new features. Once more, we hear you call: what are these new features? Hold on yee eager public – “good things come to those who wait”, we retort. However, instantly contradicting that last statement, we’re brimming with excitement here at We Heart Towers, and thought we’d divulge a little teaser…

Now, as you’ll already be aware, travel inspiration is something close to our hearts – the point where design and culture intersects with lifestyle, living and doing has always provided the content that most excites us; bars and restaurants that push design boundaries, hotels that struggle to define where art collections end and the hospitality experience begins. Those who’ve been with us a long time will remember that we launched a sister website, The Brief, a place for us to begin to categorise our travel findings, and allow users to easily search for hot spots relating to their next global wanderings.

Unfortunately, or fortunately (whichever side of these office walls you’re sitting on), the ongoing success of this website meant that we could no longer manage two websites – but it remained an itch that we needed to scratch. Then Google came calling, and last autumn we set about geotagging all of our travel-related content for their brilliant Field Trip application. The itch got worse, we realised something needed to be done, and so set about introducing travel guides into our forthcoming We Heart redesign.

Our goal? To become a one-stop source for the design-conscious traveller’s inspiration – looking for design-led bars for a forthcoming trip to New York? Jump on We Heart. There’s lots to be done and, once launched, the guides will continue to grow, develop and evolve, but we’re ready for the challenge. And we’re acutely aware of the difference between venues that look great on screen, and those that you want to spend time in – in fact, the growing trend for über-Photoshopping and eye-candy for eye-candy’s sake is another thing that we really want to talk about… but let’s leave that for another day.

We Heart v.4.0 is coming soon, if you’ve any ideas or suggestions, get in touch via the usual means.
