Who run the world?

Suggestive exhibition explores a very postmodern eroticism...

Sometimes, in the interest of decency, it’s wise to err on the side of caution when thinking up puns to express ones erudite wit within a write up – when a show goes by the name of Girl on Girl, it’s positively tiptoeing around a room filled with shards of broken glass time. You’re not going to get out alive, the lure of cheap smut is too much – you’re going to write phwoar, or fnarr fnarr, you can’t help yourself. And the press release doesn’t help matters… “a golden shower of aromas, sensitivities and tastes, sweating with femininity, sexuality and sensation”. Christ. Let’s leave the puns.

ATTIC, a space at Nottingham’s gallery/studio complex One Thoresby Street, is the venue; Lara Angol, Rebecca Ounstead and Samara Scott are the girls in question and design, fashion and art are the mediums by which the trio interpret the sensuality in textures and materials at this arousing exhibition. Femininity and the indescribable “eroticism between textures, products, fashion and style” is represented in the most avant-garde of fashions, the creatives take their brief down to its bare bones and build it back up again – walking into the exhibition space, you won’t have a clue what’s going on, but the works and their curation are intriguing, captivating, seductive. And, I think, that’s precisely what Girl on Girl is all about.
