Sock It To Me

Photographer kicks up a stink with classic album reworkings...

We’ve all done it, haven’t we…woken up and opened one bleary eye, and just for a second thought we could see Is This It by The Strokes lying on the floor by the bed, then realised it was just the way our socks had fallen on the floor the night before? No? Life must be dull lived without imagination.

Photographer Thom Moore must have had an experience of some sort, as he’s decided to use his idle moments to start a new collection of his favourite albums recreated with socks in his, aptly titled, Tumblr blog: Famous Album Covers Recreated With My Socks. It sounds daft, and is a bit, but when you look closely at his covers they are meticulously realised, detailed, and show commitment; we’re pretty sure he has had to buy some of the socks in especially – surely no one can own socks in the colours needed for Dark Side of the Moon with the intention of wearing them? The abstract covers look tricky enough, but the human figures are a triumph as well. Ozzy might not look quite as intimidating, but you can’t deny Moore’s Marilyn Manson is a vast improvement on reality.
