Keep Taking The Pills

Dutch art trio ROTGANZEN are exploring the fields of hypochondria and the quick fix in their series of 64 tasty looking lollipops, sweets with a nasty after-taste...

The grim-faced doctor delivers the news. “I’m sorry to say that it’s as we feared. Gangredine Consumptus Phantasmaticus.” Stunned silence. Moments pass, and then a thin voice, struggling for breath, wheezes: “Are there any pills for that?”

There are pills for everything. The ailments are unpronounceable, the treatments equally so, but we’re convinced we’ve got something, and we need the cure. Dutch art trio ROTGANZEN are exploring the fields of hypochondria and the quick fix in their series of 64 tasty looking lollipops, sweets with a nasty after-taste. Gangredine Consumptus Phantasmaticus (or roughly, Consumed by Imaginary Cancer) is out to mess with your head, grabbing your attention with one hand and slapping you with the other as it offers up chemical candy that you know is going to do more than rot your teeth.

The lights shining through these resinous lollipops give them a translucent effect and reveal their true nature… but they look so nice. See what you’re willing to swallow from the experts at the exhibition hosted by LTD Gallery, Paris, until 20th July.
