Night owls have a new place to perch in Mumbai following the opening of a restobar by two Indian entrepreneurs who are putting their US business school education into practice. Javed Murad and Kunjan Chikhlikar are the go-getters behind The White Owl which has nested in the lobby of the swanky Indiabulls Centre tower. It’s a microbrewery and bistro that’s open all day but which looks best at night thanks to the illuminating work of Obataimu Design Studio.

The row of lights like full moons, and the yellow glow of the bar top are two of the most eye-catching features at The White Owl, which is a mixture of factory, garage and basement. Bits of bikes and other elements of colonial Bombay provide extra visual interest on the otherwise grey brick walls, but the visual centrepiece is the brewing area in the middle of the room, vats gleaming impressively behind the glass.
