La Cuisine

It wasn’t long ago that we were showing you around MuCEM, Marseille’s harbour-front leviathan of a museum, and at 40,000 sqm the place is so big that it’s only natural visitors are going to need somewhere to refuel as they take their extended walks around the exhibition spaces. Le Môle Passédat is there to fill a hole, with three distinct dining experiences to choose from, all under the stewardship of a highly-decorated kitchen wizard.

Between Le Cuisine, La Table and Le Café, the cuisine ranges from fine dining to a more relaxed fare, the man overseeing all three of these dining experiences being Gérald Passédat, who has a frankly greedy three Michelin stars to his name. He also took a very hands on role in kitting out the dining areas. You can see his modern thinking in the Alki chairs and the Vavro-designed Rak dishware, and he roped in the MuCEM’s building architect Rudy Ricciotti to design the huge communal table in La Cuisine. Despite the open kitchen offering a fantastic view of the culinary fireworks, we’d be heading upstairs for the open air views of the waterfront. Delicious.
