Rawduck Hackney

Ducksoup's newborn sibling Rawduck hatches in Hackney...

Those that know reckon that you ain’t really made it on the London food scene until the launch of your second venue; things must be going pretty well to support expansion in one of the world’s most expensive cities, after all, and with so much competition, reputation is paramount. It is with great pleasure then, and absolutely no surprise, that we can have our first look around Hackney’s Rawduck, the newly opened sister restaurant and success statement from the folks behind Soho’s utterly stupendous Ducksoup.

We’ve been to the latter venue several times and haven’t come away anything less than delighted – it’s food of the highest order, albeit in slightly unprepossessing surroundings. Rawduck, while not being repellently fancy, has stepped things up a notch with its fresh, clean and simple interior. Rawduck differs from Ducksoup in function as well as form, operating as a wine shop as well as an all-day eatery, but both share the Duck philosophy of ever-changing menus, with each day here divided into three periods. We can’t wait to get working our way down Rawduck’s massive blackboard, but (*pun klaxon*) we might run up quite a bill…
