Mexican restaurateurs reprise their Day of the Dead pop-up at permanent home...

We are saying a big “yes sir” to Si Señor Art Taqueria, a bar where the Mexican festival Day of the Dead is alive and well. The psychedelic skulls iconography is a massive favourite here at We Heart, and the pueblo of Melbourne agree – the Si Señor group decided to set up a permanent home after the success of their pop-up in Somerset Place this summer.

Now open for business at their new Carlisle Street address, the tripped out aesthetic starts at the end of the street, with road-to-roof image projections and lights transforming the building’s façade. Those shades of neon continue inside, with corner lighting casting a gaudy glow over proceedings in areas such as the Frida and Diego Dining Room. The front of house manager and head chef are both honest to goodness Mexicans, so the experience is as authentically Mexican as you’ll find on the other side of the world.
