Smoke on the Water

DJ bangs out barbecue and beats at Hackney riverside pop-up...

Smoke on the Water

Decked out with plenty of outdoor seating and the obligatory disco ball in the industrial setting, Smokey Tails has a long cocktail list and what promises to be a pretty special set list to enjoy on a balmy London evening...

Like barbecue meat, mixed booze and mixed beats? Of course you do, which means you should be heading to upcoming Hackney Wick while the summer is still lingering to experience Smokey Tails, a seasonal pop-up on the River Lea from DJ Seth Troxler and his five buddies.

A Michigan native now living in Berlin, Troxler has borrowed some elements from the German capital’s Club der Visionaere (a splendid Spree-side venue that never seems to close), and added his own secret sauce. He, along with Visionquest partner Ryan Crosson, is a smoked meat aficionado from way back, and is currently developing his family’s special condiment for sale in the US. Visitors at the E9 container yard can enjoy an advanced taste when tucking into the array of marinated meat, or go green with a healthy salad. Decked out with plenty of outdoor seating and the obligatory disco ball in the industrial setting, Smokey Tails has a long cocktail list and what promises to be a pretty special set list to enjoy on a balmy London evening. Let’s hope we luck out with an Indian summer…
