unexpected contrasts in Swiss hair studio.....

In a somewhat depressingly predictable trend, hair studios have – on the whole – spent the last ten years or so, slowly merging into an indecipherable blend of stark white interiors, clinical furnishings, and general soullessness… The reason being, we’re told, is to accommodate the stylist’s perfect working environment… light, spacious and devoid of distraction. But what of the customer’s desire for a more engaging experience… warm, inviting and visually stimulating? Well, it would seem Swiss designers, Zmik, have the answer… a stark, dramatic fusion of the two.
The reception of Basel’s Hairstyling Nafi has ceilings and walls that are entirely covered with vintage cuttings from Vogue, photocopied onto packaging paper for a added aged appeal, the wooden floor precisely matching their earthy tones. The studio, however, is the spectacular antithesis… minimal, metallic furnishings and the aforementioned stylists dream. The border between the starkly contrasting spaces is equally dazzling with it’s exact, sharp lines separating the two ‘fit for purpose’ spaces… if only all dilemmas could be solved with this level of clear thinking…
revolutionary fitness device goes haute couture....

Fitness equipment… often scary, mostly a chore… but always, always UGLY! That was of course until now… as legendary Japanese fashion designer, Kenzo Takada, lends his signature floral print to the hugely popular Power Plate. We don’t claim to know all that much about their revolutionary “premium vibration device” (these copywriters leave themselves wide open at times don’t they?) but they certainly look less like hard work than the majority of fitness devices we come across – or don’t for that matter…. As we all know though, getting in shape comes at a cost, and with a hugely limited-edition run from an internationally renowned designer, that is only available upon request, the price is enough to get you on your bike…. £9,525 thank you! If you’re determined enough to fight the flab and look good doing it, get in touch with them online or call 0207 586 7200….

Launched in 1997 by musician, artist, trendsetter and tea connoisseur, Ms. Zhang Jin Jie (aka JinR), Green T. House began life as a simple tea house, 3 tables that would serve as a cultural hub for fellow artists and musicians… Within 5 years, JinR had turned her hand to haute cuisine, revolutionised Beijing’s restaurant scene, been described by Time Magazine as “China’s first celebrity chef” and in the process had developed a unique cultural brand in Green T. House.
Of course that was never going to be enough for the irrepressible entrepreneur, and 4 years ago she pushed the boundaries of her vision further, launching the Green T. House Living concept on the outskirts of Beijing city, an “intersection of art, culture, and community” that delivered dining and art events and introduced JinR’s signature range of teas, furniture and design objects. Spacious loft style villa accommodation and a unique bathhouse spa were introduced in June 2009…. dare we say, completing Green T. House’s offering as a truly inspiring and unique brand by moving from the realms of tea houses, art events and restaurants into spa and hospitality? With an entrepreneur this single-minded, innovative and influential at the helm however, we can’t see the Green T. House brand standing still for too long…..

There’s times we wish we wrote about dining out at the finest KFC, shopping at ASDA’s or a package holiday in Benidorm, because quite frankly all this style, fashion and out and out luxury can leave us feeling a little, well, jealous to put it bluntly and for that reason this post almost didn’t see the light of day as, in dire need of a holiday and some serious relaxation, we could barely begin to tell you about the unadulterated, indulgent splendor on offer at the SHA Wellness Clinic.
Situated in Albir Beach, nearby the picturesque town of Villa de Altea in the Valencia region of North East Spain, SHA Wellness Clinic offers world class treatments that harness the best of ancient oriental techniques and cutting edge western medicine. 93 suites, each with a spectacular view of the Mediterranean Sea and the Sierra Helada, offer the height of contemporary design and amenities within a complex that offers swimming pools, waterfalls and relaxation areas such as the Zen, Mediterranean and Tropical gardens. The massive array of unique treatments on offer in the clinic are tailored specifically to the individual with a preliminary questionnaire allowing the hugely experienced team to devise a personal plan which is adjusted throughout your stay, which is a recommended 2 week residence.

Bored of the same old ’sleek n’ stylish’ hair salon with it’s angular, uber-white interiors? If you are, and your in Dublin then your luck is in, Style Club is a hair studio with a twist, an interesting new concept and a design curiosity all warped into one twisted space. When your architect tells you he’s thinking of ‘Alice in Wonderland as a punk rocker’ you’d better be a brave customer and that’s certainly what Peter Mark is as he adds this weird and wonderful delight to his 70-strong Irish salon chain.

Along with being undeniably wealthy, you can rest assured safe in the knowledge that you are distinctly more luxury than possibly anyone else on the planet if you are born into the family who founded LVMH. The company behind Moët & Chandon, Louis Vuitton, TAG Heuer, Fendi and Veuve Clicquot, to name but a choice few, is the undisputed heavyweight champion of style and Kilian Hennessy, whose grandfather founded the company, has an unrivaled stock. Having worked for some of the most prestigious perfume houses in the world (Christian Dior, Paco Rabanne, Alexander McQueen and Giorgio Armani), Hennessy is on a quest to bring the luxury back to frangrance with his own range of fragrances which include this stupendously limited edition of his new aftershave, Straight To Heaven.
