With her hugely popular, ultra-chic Aladdin’s cave of cool in North London, Atelier Abigail Ahern – Elle Decoration called it “one of the coolest places to shop in the UK” – a highly rated, “fabulous new interiors tome” – so say The Times – ‘A Girl’s Guide to Decorating‘, a range of products, concession at Bluebird at continued interior design work, Abigail Ahern is one of London’s most prominent design figures, so you can imagine just how excited we were to get her on board as the first ‘Insider’ for our new regular feature…. if you want to know what an influential interiors guru enjoys in her hometown, read on…..

Well, having seen architecture from the likes of Zaha Hadid, Frank Gehry, Herzog & de Meuron and Le Corbusier, had personal tours of inspiration galleries such as Fondation Beyeler and Zurich’s Museum of Design and enjoyed some of Switzerland’s finest cuisine and hospitality… we’ve sure got a lot more brilliant content to deliver… in the meantime, here’s our second collection of photographic highlights…
Last week we were invited over to Basel and Zurich, Switzerland in order to discover that the linguistically diverse country is not just about cows, cheese and the Matterhorn, but also a hotbed of architectural and design talent. Of course famous for it’s strong graphic design and typography history – including the Swiss based movement, International Typographic Style – we duly discovered that both architecture and product design are too thriving in this small, yet fascinating nation…. we’ll be featuring lots more from our trip in the coming weeks, in the meantime however, here is our first selection of images…..

We’re a matter of weeks away from launching our latest venture, The Import… a daily dose of graphic and web design inspiration. Delivering a daily feed of the most inspirational websites around, whether they be designer’s, illustrator’s or photographer’s portfolios, first rate design studios, or simply the most beautifully designed new sites, alongside regular insights into the cream of the globe’s design studios, curation of the best sites by industry, style and theme, interviews with the most influential designers, illustrators and photographers, and not to mention prizes for our site of the month. We’ll keep you informed as the launch date nears….
Yes, we’re looking to dispel the myth that outside of our major metropolises, the UK is humdrum, desolate and tediously devoid of ‘cool’…… and we’re looking for you to help us. So, whether it’s chic nightlife, brilliant boutiques, budding young designers, stylish eateries, hot hotels or fledgling artists, we’re looking for you. We’ll feature all of the best ‘Provincial Cool’ picks in the coming weeks/months and we’re hoping that by the end of that we’ll have enough to put together a book on the subject… so, come on Britain, show us what you’ve got…..
