Trend: Black Rice

March 3rd, 2009

Scientifically proven to lower cholesterol, high levels of the antioxidant anthocyanin, ideal for a low carb diet and looking pretty damn cool, black rice is set to be one of the healthier food trends this year. Widely cultivated across Asia, black rice contains more nutrients than both white and brown and certainly stands out in terms of presentation. Acclaimed chef Ian Pengelley, of Camden’s Gilgamesh restaurant, has put together an eclectic black rice menu that is an exciting introduction to a trend which looks set to feature heavily on Pan-Asian menus in upper class joints around the UK in 2009.

We showcase work from artists featured in the book after the jump;

Krispy Kreme Grass Flip Flops

July 24th, 2008

Wooooo Hooooo, the sun is finally here and in response to this minor miracle trendy doughnut makers Krispy Kreme have come up with with an ideal solution to those ’stuck-in-the-office-blues’ by offering stressed out city workers the chance to have that feeling of a summer lawn beneath your bare feet all day long. The world’s first grass flip flops can be kept for over four months if looked after and will certainly give you a spring in your step. If your in London then keep your eye out for somebody dishing these little beauties out, plans are a-foot (sorry) for releasing them nationally, we’ll be the first to let you know.

Krispy Creme

To add to the summer vibe, Krispy Kreme are giving you the chance to win tickets for yourself and 4 friends to the summer’s most corporate musical get together, the V Festival. Simply pick yourself up some of their obscenely good doughnuts, take a picture of you and your friends with said doughnuts and send them via your mobiles texting system over to 60300 along with the word KRISPY. For more info visit their ‘Share the summer magic‘ website.
