intricate pop-art illustrations

We can’t get enough of German illustrator Jörn Kaspuhl’s wonderfully vibrant work, from the intricate detail and vivid pop-art colouring to the bizarre, often nightmarish, subject matters. His highly sought after style, Kaspuhl has been commissioned by the likes of GQ, The Independent, Monocle and The New Yorker, is often other-worldly, his personal work in particular featuring an array of human/animal mutants, but it’s his beautifully energetic portraits of pop stars that we most enjoy, from the colourful Karen O to the, well, rather dead looking Jarvis Cocker, they’re all screaming for Jörn to open an online store as they beg to be displayed on our needy walls.

You may remember that back in November we featured The George Hotel in Hamburg, a traditional slab of British private members club style in the middle of this vibrant German port city. Well if your looking for something a bit less English and a more younger, creative vibe then you could do a lot worse than the 25Hours Hotel. Heavily influenced in design from the 60s and 70s, interior designers 3META have created a uniquely retro hotel which positively encourages an open, lively atmosphere where guests can feel at home. Club-like mood lighting of pinks and reds throughout, bespoke designer furniture which can be purchased directly through 25Hours and a lobby and restaurant that flow into each other, leading guests over the lounge bar into a large, flexible meeting and event area ensure that this is a truly contemporary design experience.

When you think of classic old English social clubs with libraries and smoking lounges, one of the last places you would possibly mention is Hamburg, but that’s just what is happening right now in the fashionable St. Georg neighbourhood, famous for it’s nightlife, funky boutiques, theatre and street cafés. Opening only a few weeks ago, The George Hotel is a beautifully designed homage to early 1900’s London elegance and fuses traditional members club style with contemporary twists. Having already attained the status of being a member of the exclusive Design Hotels group, this is a hotel with the highest credentials.
