So it’s Friday, let’s have a bit of fun… and what better than a simply hilarious video poking a bit of fun at that easiest of targets, the hipster? Slicker and funnier than so many parody videos, ‘Being a Dickhead’s Cool’ is actually really rather very catchy and with lyrics like “Loafers with no socks, Electropop meets southern hip hop” you just can’t help but love it…

Enjoy the rush of being pulled up at customs, the tedium of hours in a cold room being interrogated by someone who doesn’t speak a word of your language? We’ve got just the thing for you! Perhaps better in concept than reality, Vancouver’s ‘The Cheeky‘ – headed by chief lunatic Colin Hart, whose life’s work is to collect “ideas that mock convention and challenge pointlessness” – have produced these rather witty luggage identifiers that, if we were remotely serious and dour, we’d probably advise you against using. But, we’re not – so go ahead, have fun, but just maybe not if you’re flying into Dubai…..

Three Frames

So, let’s get this straight, Three Frames isn’t going to be winning any accolades from high-brow press anytime soon, nor is it likely to win any awards, but for a uniquely subversive art concept it sure is entertaining. De-constructing famous, but for the majority by no means critically acclaimed, movies into a three frame (it’s all in the name you see) animated gif is a bold concept which, on the whole, pays off. Funny, bizarre and strangely cool, the low quality of the high compression file format, coupled with the use of tacky eighties straight-to-video movie clips, lend each image a uniquely retro feel that leaves you wanting more. Good job they’re updating daily then!

The Hotelicopter

Just in time for April 1st, this excellent piece of guerrilla/viral/call-it-what-you-will marketing has already pulled the proverbial leg of several blogs out there already thanks to it’s pretty believable back story and some beautifully crafted computer graphics. The premise of a flying ‘Hotelicopter’ is perfectly feasible as is the entertaining Soviet military story outlined on the ‘Hotelicopter‘ website, dig a little deeper however and you’ll get a sniff of who is behind this entertaining marketing stunt. The onboard cabins are apparently designed in cooperation with ‘Yotel‘, the budget airport hotel brainchild of Yo! Sushi entrepreneur, and former BBC Dragon, Simon Woodroffe.

Whilst this is bound to generate a huge amount of publicity for the Yo! Company, and upset those countless naiive bloggers, we can’t help but feel a sense of sadness when browsing the ‘Hotelicopter‘ website that this is infact an elaborate marketing hoax and possibly the best April fools day joke we can think of in a long time, as the ‘Hotelicopter’ sure seems like it would be fun……. Then maybe we’re the ones who have been had and this really will come true, in which case, book us on the inaugural Summer tour!
