Focus Fireplaces

January 27th, 2009

Having worked as an ethnologist in Alaska and a dishwasher in Manhattan, Dominique Imbert crafted a fireplace for his personal use when he returned to France in 1967. Soon making more for those who fell in love with his work he developed Focus Fireplaces into a fully fledged business as he continued to create his works of art for those fascinated by his work, devotees which have included Norman Foster and the New York Guggenheim Museum. If you are looking for an architectural work of art as a truly unique centerpiece, then you need look no further than this unique range of over 50 contemporary fireplaces.

Unless your living under a rock, in which case well done for still keeping up to date with We Heart Stuff, then you will be well aware of falling housing prices, unachievable mortgages and high street brands going bust on a weekly, if not daily, basis. Not exactly boom time for estate agents then! Unless of course you’ve cornered your very own niche in the market that is, and that’s exactly what ‘The Modern House‘ have gone and done. The Modern House is a unique estate agency that is dedicated to architect-designed property in both urban and rural locations across the UK, so if you’ve got the money for your very own Grand Designs project but haven’t got the time or patience (or just can’t be bothered with that annoying git gloating at how overtime and over-budget you are), then these guys have your answers.

We’ve picked some of the most interesting featured properties currently on offer, right after the jump…..
