If you weren’t living under a rock this summer, then you won’t fail to have missed the UK’s food-truck obsession reach feverish heights. Yianni Papoutsis’ Meatwagon was one of the summer’s biggest stars with appearances at Glastonbury and Secret Garden Party to name but a few. Only a matter of time then that the ‘meatrepreneur’ would find a permanent place to call home and, with a little help from interior architects Shed and some mural work from the ever-brilliant I Love Dust, that’s just what’s happened. Located just off Oxford Street in a former Italian restaurant, MEATliquor is another addition to London’s glut of super-cool ‘no reservations’ establishments and, at last, offers the security that you’ll always know where to find the capital’s best burger. A Rococo style dome and a selection of ornate architraves and columns have been left over by the former tenants, whilst internationally renowned studio I Love Dust’s illustrations provide colourful tales from the Meatwagon’s past. Uncompromising and so emblematic of the ‘wagon’s no-nonsense mantra, MEATliquor is very New York, very cool, and it’s very likely you’ll find us here, shovelling 28-day aged prime chuck steak mince into our faces…
