New Holmenkollen Beacon, Oslo

March 22nd, 2010

Reaching out from the famous Holmenkollen hill, high into the sky above Oslo, Copenhagen based JDS Architects‘ majestic construction is in equal parts breath-taking and, thinking briefly from a competitors perspective, positively terrifying. From it’s graceful, sloped profile to the flat top with open-air viewing platform that affords spectacular views of the Oslo fjord and city, the new ski jump and 50,000 seat amphitheatre provides the Norwegian capital with a truly unique icon that reinforces their position as the dominant force in international ski-jumping ahead of the 2011 world championships.

Twitter Request #1: Grims Grenka, Oslo

November 26th, 2009

We received a tweet a few days ago from @warrenbuckley, asking us if we had covered any boutique hotels in Norway, we hadn’t (shame on us), but it did get us thinking… why don’t we open our Twitter account up to requests for things you’d like to see featured over here on the wonderful We Heart. So, that’s exactly what we’re going to do, if you want to see the best bars in Brooklyn or the slickest interiors from Istanbul then just tweet your request through to us on @weheartstuff and we’ll do our best to oblige. In the meantime, here’s Twitter Request #1, the fabulously opulent, and wonderfully named Grims Grenka hotel in Oslo.
